Dord Burrough’s practice is increasingly focused on somatic, sensorial and emotional processing and how these elements might be transformed through the cathartic act of painting. Currently working in larger scales, Burrough has moved away from conceptual frameworks allowing embodied and energetic formalism to emerge. The physical manifestation of this immediacy can be seen in the open pictorial planes of Burrough’s recent paintings.
Dord Burrough has exhibited widely in Melbourne, Sydney and Berlin, with recent exhibitions including Delores Death Door, Obsessive Thinking and Bar and Grill at LON Gallery, presentations at the Quarantine Art Fair, Spring 1883, Bundoora Homestead, Incinerator Gallery, Edwina Corlette Gallery and Ryan Renshaw Gallery. Burrough received the Queensland Workers Alliance Award from the QCA and various grants from Creative Victoria and the Myer Foundation and has been a finalist in the R & M McGivern Prize, The Churchie Emerging Artist Award, GAS Art Award. Her work is held in the Joyce Nissan Collection, Artbank, Macquarie Group Collection and private collections throughout Australia and Germany.
