Dord Burrough, Bar and Grill

LON Gallery is delighted to present, Bar and Grill, an exhibition of new works by Dord Burrough.

For her second solo exhibition with the gallery, Burrough presents a suite of new paintings that extend her ongoing investigation into memory, nature, time, psychology and the body. The exhibition reflects on ongoing refinement and development of the artist's area of interests through colour, gesture and application of paint. Introducing a highly contrasting and intensified palate of rich oranges and blues, Burrough destabilises the picture plane, which becomes the catalyst for a growing sense of chaos in these new works.

By combining intuitive methods of drawing and mark making, with graphic, comic-book qualities and gestural actions that focus on movement and colour, Burrough develops a multiplicity, depth and varying pace in the work suggestive of the complexities of the subconscious and the balancing act of the self. The quality of time is visible as a compositional element via the palpable depth of the layering process.
