Ryan Hancock, Spawn

LON Gallery is thrilled to present, ‘Spawn’, Ryan Hancock’s second solo exhibition with the gallery, comprising a suite of 11 new ceramic works, on view between September 20 – October 14.

An extension of Hancock’s recent presentation at Sydney Contemporary, these vessels achieve a new level of complexity and sophistication in their painted motifs which allude to bizarre, yet pertinent allegories.

Painted in his signature subversive approach to the ancient Maiolica technique, Hancock’s works mix mythology, popular culture, personal narrative and obscure internet humour to reflect the increasingly chaotic and surreal society we find ourselves in; the era of fake news, the climate crisis, billionaire space tourism and Donald Trump.
