Ryan Hancock, Berserk Idyll

LON Gallery is delighted to present Ryan Hancock’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, 'Berserk Idyll'. This exhibition comprises of a series of maiolica painted pots that depict re-imagined narratives. These narratives are of chaotic worlds filled with painted graphic figures from history, popular culture, and internet humour. Upon each vessel, new canons and timelines are created that are grounded in eternity. Stories from the past become synthesised within contemporary culture, creating a time loop. The historic medium of ceramics is itself timeless, a message to the future that is baked in flames.

The images endlessly repeat in a loop, the only limit being the dimensions of the vessel. Like a parallax, upon each vessel, space becomes distorted. The edge of the pot is constantly changing based on one’s position. With this, one perceived reality makes way for another.
