Casey Jeffery & Ryan Hancock, Sydney Contemporary (2023)

LON Gallery is thrilled to be exhibiting at Sydney Contemporary for the first time with a two person exhibition of new works by Casey Jeffery and Ryan Hancock. The exhibition comprises a suite of new ceramic vessels by Hancock and paintings on board in acrylic and oil by Jeffery.

Painted with his signature subversive approach to the ancient Maiolica technique, Hancock’s works take stage as single and multi tiered vessels that evoke alluring narratives of chaotic worlds filled with graphic figures from history, popular culture, and internet humour.

Jeffery’s oil paintings mine notions of history, primarily depicting retro and vintage fabrics that hold symbolic value for the artist. Jeffery employs narrative and deeply personal subject matter as a conduit to communicate the more widely universal themes of migrant histories and the psychology of the post war suburban Australian vernacular.
