LON Gallery is delighted to present Fruit & Veg & Parodies, a solo exhibition by Lauren Dunn.
Fruit & Veg & Parodies is a product of Lauren's ongoing research into popular consumptive trends in Australia. Specifically, this research focuses on a recurring interest in eco-theory, commodity culture, contemporary art, and the intersection of these three key ideas. Lauren uses various manipulative imaging and re-imaging processes to mimic the many forms of manipulation we as consumers experience under the capitalist model. Lauren employs the use of parody in her work as a strategy to create highly conceptual, self-reflexive imagery. Humour is used by the artist as a strategic device in Fruit & Veg & Parodies, to twist the codes and conventions of commercial photography. Lauren's imagery re-presents a thought provoking, fresh and insightful take on the post-photographic landscape.
