19 November–13 December 2025
LON Gallery is thrilled to present Stop Motion, Caleb Shea’s highly anticipated third solo exhibition with the gallery, on view between 19 November - 13 December.
Please join us for the opening celebration from 2 - 4pm on Saturday the 22 of November.
This ambitious exhibition exemplifies Shea’s sustained investigation into and fascination with a series of idiosyncratic forms which the artist has been pushing, refining and re-defining for over a decade.
In Stop Motion, an articulation of growth unfolds through a sequence of sculptural components. The exhibition animates one of Shea’s most recognisable motifs — the ‘claw’ — which here assumes a dynamic, gestural presence. For the first time, Shea has conceived a suite of discrete sculptures as a single installation — a unified gesture articulating a grand sculptural statement. Unfolding rhythmically through the gallery, the works collectively choreograph the space, inviting multiple readings through shifting sightlines and perspectives.
For the past two decades, Shea has exhibited widely at biennales, leading museums, commercial and non-profit art galleries. Key institutional exhibitions include Caleb Shea, Linden New Art, The Peasants are Revolting, Heide Museum of Modern Art and Melbourne Now at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). Shea’s work was included in the inaugural Melbourne Sculpture Biennale and the Venice Architecture Biennale. His works are held in significant public and private collections in Australia, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Artbank, Australian Catholic University, City of Melton, Joyce Nissan, Macquarie Group and Westpac.
